Coronation Street spoilers: Sophie Webster breaks down as she’s told little brother Jack has Sepsis

Restaurant manager Sophie breaks down as she's told Jack has the devastating illness

SOPHIE Webster is going to be left horrified when she’s told her little brother Jack has sepsis.

The Speed Dahl manager – who is played by actress Brooke Vincent in the ITV soap – will be left praying at Jack’s bedside when he is rushed into intensive care with an illness that is later diagnosed as Sepsis.

Sophie sobs as Ali tells her that Jack has Sepsis

“I took him to the medical centre, I’ve been here twice,” she cries to Ali Neeson in the first-look clip revealed by the soap.

“He’s been looked at by four different doctors, including yourself and none of you have told me what’s wrong with him.”

She adds: “I don’t understand. That woman said he had a virus, she was certain he had a virus.”

Tonight Jack complains to big sis Sophie, played by Brooke Vincent, that he’s not feeling very well when his dad leaves him with her for the day.

But Soph thinks the little scamp is trying to pull a fast one and get out of going to school, so she tells him he has to go.

Sure enough he gets sent home and it’s Seb Franklin and Faye Windass who discover him slumped on the stairs, obviously very poorly indeed.

They carry him out of the house and are spotted by medic Ali Neeson who advises them to get the boy to A&E as quick as possible.

But Jack ends up at the medical centre instead and there is much relief when the doctor there confirms he has a viral infection and tells Sophie to take him home.

Ali decides he needs to be rushed to hospital

Later Ali calls in at Kev’s to see how Jack’s doing but notices something worrying about the lad’s fingers and toes which suggests something serious is going on.

Ali calls an ambulance right away and Jack is rushed to Weatherfield General. Kevin, Sally Sophie and Tim are then told that he has sepsis – otherwise known as blood poisoning – and could die.

Poor Sophie blames herself for what’s happened as Jack was with her last week when he fell and grazed his knee. As Kevin, Corrie veteran Michael Le Vell, keeps a bedside vigil, does he hold her responsible too?

Later in the week the Speed Dahl manager lashes out at nurse Rana Nazir for the medical centre missing the severity of Jack’s condition and sending him home.
