A source told the Daily Star: "The theme for this summer's CBB series is understood to be 'scandal' so Sam is ideal for this."

If Samantha Markle were to join Celebrity Big Brother, this would include jetting in from Florida for the six-week stay at the Elstree compound.

The Sun Online has contacted Channel 5 for comment.

Samantha shares father Thomas Markle with her half sister Meghan, and has been outspoken in the past over not being invited to the royal wedding.

After a decade’s estrangement, the 53-year-old told The Sun she offered to reconcile with Meghan, 36, in order to bring peace to the Markles.

Samantha, who saw Meghan wed Harry on TV at her Florida home, told The Sun: “I watched the bishop talk about love and unity and forgiveness and I hoped it would strike a chord within Meghan.

“So if that was real and if I were to define a principle to all of this then it would be that we all just work for a peaceful resolution and reunion as a family.

She added: “This should ride on her conscience as a moral obligation to at some point communicate with me and be united rather than divided – as that was the whole message.

Previously, in an interview with Channel Four show Meet The Markles she said: “There are some members of the family who have an air of entitlement about even a wedding invite, I don’t understand why we didn’t get one but I don’t expect or demand one."
