Natalie Dormer
Born February 11, 1982, Natalie Dormer leads the cast of the BBC re-imagining as school headmistress Hester Appleyard.
The 36-year-old is best known for her role as Margaery Tyrell on hit fantasy series Game of Thrones from 2012 until she was killed off in 2016.
She made her screen debut in Casanova and has since played the Duchess of York in Madonna's W.E film and Private Lorraine in Captain America: The First Avenger.
Natalie also starred as Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 in 2014 before reprising her role for the sequel a year later.
Samara Weaving
Born February 23, 1992, emerging Australian actress Samara Weaving stars as wealthy schoolgirl Irma Leopold.
Samara got her break in 2008's Australian-UK soap opera Out of the Blue that led her to land a recurring role as Indigo Walker in the long-running soap Home and Away.
She has also starred in Netflix's 2017 teen horror-comedy The Babysitter before starring as Penelope in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.
The 26-year-old's younger sister Morgan is also an actress and her uncle is legendary Lord of the Rings and The Matrix star Hugo Weaving.
Madeleine Madden
Born January 29, 1997, Madeleine Madden plays bright schoolgirl Marion Quade.
The 21-year-old is best known for her role as Zoe Preston on Australia's first indigenous teen drama, Ready for This.
She came to attention by being the first Australian teenager to deliver an Address to the Nation on behalf of the Generation One's 2010 campaign at aged just 13.
Madeleine's first feature film was in 2013 drama Around the Block and most recently, she appeared in Australian mini-series Tomorrow, When the War Began.
Lily Sullivan
Lily Sullivan is also part of the stellar cast of Picnic at Hanging Rock where she plays strong-willed schoolgirl Miranda Reid.
The 24-year-old is best known for her role as leader of the anti-fascist group Antifasc in TV series Romper Stomper, a sequel to the 1992 film of the same name.
She made her feature film debut in 2012's Australian comedy-drama Mental, where she earned an AACTA Award nomination for Best Young Actor.
Lily is considered one of Australia's fastest rising stars and has also appeared alongside Daniel Radcliffe in 2017's biographical survival drama Jungle.
