EastEnders spoilers: Carmel Kazemi falls apart and bans everyone from her murdered son Shakil’s funeral
It’s tragic Shakil Kazemi’s funeral in EastEnders next week and his grieving mum Carmel is still not coping with her loss as she lashes out and bans everyone from saying a final goodbye to the murdered teen.
As the week begins, Carmel, played by stage and screen legend Bonnie Langford, causes concern for her eldest son Kush as she refuses to help him organise the funeral, instead throwing herself into organising events for her youth club project.
As the week goes on and Kush is left to arrange Shakil’s funeral on his own, he and Denise grow more concerned about Carmel’s mental health.
Eventually Keegan Taylor stuns Carmel into action when he confronts his best mate’s mum about her not being involved in the funeral arrangements.
Carmel is taken aback and shares some harsh words with Keegan before storming to the funeral parlour and telling Jay Brown to cancel all the tributes.
She instructs him to tell everyone that they’re not welcome at the funeral now, she just wants it to be her and Shakil.
Later Kush confides in Denise that he feels his mum has let Shakil down by refusing to get involved in the funeral arrangements.
On the day of the funeral Kush insists that despite Carmel’s orders to Jay, the day should go ahead as planned.
But Carmel refuses to attend and ignores Kush’s pleas for her to say goodbye properly.
