Rock legend Robert Plant is in secret talks about a Led Zeppelin reunion for the band’s 50th anniversary

WORD reaches me that rock legend Robert Plant is in secret talks about a Led Zeppelin reunion for the band’s 50th anniversary later this year.

Plant has held discussions with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones about hosting several events in London this October.

However, I’m told a reunion concert and new album have been ruled out.

The news is still something of a surprise given Plant has refused to even consider any return with his surviving bandmates for more than a decade.

Early ideas include the three remaining stars attending a celebration of their work, which would include famous artists covering their hit tunes.

They might then appear on stage individually with some of the star names.

They are also thought to be contracted to promote their new 368-page photo book, Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin.

The band’s late drummer, John Bonham, is likely to be represented by his son Jason. Page has been begging Robert for nine years to give fans a farewell tour.

However, Robert has shied away from his bandmate’s pleas and turned down promoters’ offers of £100million cash.

Jimmy reckons the emotional aspect of playing without John is too tough for his pal to cope with on stage.

The band last played in 2007, perhaps for the final time.
