CORONATION Street fans have been left shocked after it was revealed new girl Kayla Westbrook's dad is Neil Clifton who groomed and raped Bethany Platt.
Viewers were left reeling over the shocking news in tonight's episode that the convicted policeman's daughter has been secretly befriending his victim.

Soap fans saw Kayla, played by Mollie Winnard, run a quick errand to the local prison, before her date with Craig Tinker, played by Colson Smith.
Viewers were then shown the back of a man sitting down to greet her in the meeting area.
Kayla smiled and said: "Hi dad."
The camera then panned to her father's face, revealing it was Neil who was previously seen being put behind bars for abusing Bethany as part of a horrifying sex-grooming ring.

Those watching at home rushed to Twitter to share their shock at the unexpected plot twist.
One wrote: "As if Kayla is Neil's daughter"
Another commented: "Oh oh! Neil is Kayla's dad! "

Referring to her dad's beaten up face, a concerned Kayla asked: "How are you doing dad?"
He encouraged his daughter to move on with her life and go to university.

Kayla told him that Bethany, played by Lucy Fallon, had worked at a lap dancing bar which caused Neil to lean in with interested.
Later on she was seen quizzing Craig about Bethany during their date.
