Hollyoaks’ Ross Adams thought he was dying and was convinced he had a brain tumour after suffering from splitting headaches
The 33-year-old thought he might only have a couple of months left to live after Googling his symptoms
HOLLYOAKS Ross Adams thought he was dying after enduring splitting headaches.
The actor, who plays Scott Drinkwell in the Channel 4 show, was convinced he had a brain tumour and after Googling his symptoms, he became convinced he would be dead in a matter of months.
“On Google I read people with symptoms like mine were dead two weeks later. You start to catastrophise everything.”
However he learnt there was nothing physically wrong with him and he was in fact suffering from a form hypochondria called health anxiety.
Ross underwent eight session of CBT when he was diagnosed with it in November of last year and is continuing to have combined sessions of hypnotherapy, timeline therapy and neuro linguistic programming.
He now has it more under control, saying: “I’ve got the tools to control it now. I’ve learned that while I’m healthy and happy, it’s good to live in the now rather than worrying what’s ahead.”
The actor recently won the Best Male Dramatic Performance at the Soap Awards, beating off competition Corrie’s Pat Phelan and EastEnders’ Jake Wood.
The 33-year-old, whose character has been suicidal in the soap, revealed his good luck charm for the night was wearing the same suit he wore at his wedding to Phil Crusham earlier this year.
He told OK! Magazine: "I had planned to wear something else but then I remembered how lucky I felt on my wedding day and hoped that it might bring me luck on the big night.
"I still can't quite believe that it did but I'm surprised no-one noticed."
