X Factor 2016 winner Matt Terry has been dropped from his record deal with Sony label RCA
MATT TERRY is the latest X Factor winner to feel the record company axe after disappointing sales.
He landed a deal with Sony label RCA after beating Saara Aalto to the crown in 2016. Show bosses wanted RCA to turn Matt into the next Olly Murs, who is also signed to the label.

But in an exclusive interview Matt, below, said: “I’m not with Sony any more, as of four days ago.
“I’m in talks with Sony Madrid. In the UK I’ve done my thing. The reaction to my songs has been crazy, they’ve had 60million streams. It’s great but I’m excited to do another album.
“You don’t even really need a label to sell. Fair enough, they plan everything for you, but I can still move forward . . . onwards and upwards.”
Despite not being signed to Simon Cowell ’s company Syco, like X Factor winners Little Mix and James Arthur, Matt says that the mogul has continued to be one of his close aides.

He added: “I spoke to Simon a few months ago. He’s given me great advice and he’s a nice guy. He’s very supportive. The X Factor is a great show for people to do, though it is important that they prepare for it as it’s a lot of work.
“Being a famous pop star isn’t a life of luxury. It’s actually very hard work and there’s a lot of time that goes into it.”
Matt’s album Trouble had the unwanted accolade of becoming the worst-performing debut for any winner of The X Factor. It failed to enter the top ten in the UK Albums Chart, peaking at No29.
He had more success wowing fans with his ability to speak Spanish after collaborating with Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul on Subeme La Radio, which climbed to the dizzy heights of No10 in the UK Singles Chart.

But Matt’s career isn’t going to grind to a halt now that he’s been dropped from his label. He’s got the star role playing Alex the lion in Madagascar The Musical, which opens next month at the New Wimbledon Theatre in London.
I’m sure he’ll be a roaring success.

Rih Hassan enough of men
year since The Sun revealed that Rihanna was dating Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel. But their romance is apparently already over as sources claim the superstar has “grown tired” of her boyfriend.
Rihanna was pictured in a series of steamy clinches in a pool the week her relationship with Hassan was revealed and was last seen with the businessman looking loved-up in Paris in April.

Though he doesn’t appear to have kept Rihanna satisfied for long, as one of the singer’s close pals claimed: “Rihanna and Hassan were together for a while and it was a good relationship but it’s over now. Of course Rihanna broke his heart – that’s what she does, break men’s hearts. She just got tired of him. She gets tired of men sometimes.”
Rihanna recently admitted to no longer having a friendship with ex-boyfriend Drake after his heartfelt speech about her at the 2016 VMA Awards made her feel “uncomfortable”.
It’s no surprise that Rihanna is a hard woman to please.

North, who turns five on June 15, received the holdalls – one sparkly and one leopard print – from Mr Wang himself. A note posted on Snapchat read: “North, happy birthday! Every girl needs a lil sparkle. Hope you love. Alex.”
Kim announced to her 112million Instagram followers: “Oh my God, North is the luckiest girl in the world. Who gets this bag from Alexander Wang?”
She added: “I might steal this.”
What North probably wants is an Adidas rucksack just like other kids her age.
Spice reunion a drag
Mel C's reunion with the Spice Girls has been fraught with problems, so she’s found a quick and easy solution.

The singer joined four Spice lookalike drag queens on stage at the Mighty Hoopla festival in South London’s Brockwell Park yesterday to perform the pop superstars’ biggest hits. Some of her four new co-stars bore an uncanny likeness to the group – which also included Emma Bunton, Mel B and Victoria Beckham.
Mel joked at the end of the set: “Thank you, Spice Girls. I’ll see you at rehearsals for the tour.”
