In an accompanying video, the star says orcas swim monotonously around concrete tanks at places like SeaWorld.

She said: "These are animals with their own cultures and their own language.

"The more we understand about the extraordinary capabilities of these wonderful whales, the more we can realise just how disgusting their captivity and confinement is."

Amanda - who's gearing up for the BGT finals this weekend - points out that while no whales or dolphins have been held captive in the UK since the 1990s, marine parks continue to operate abroad.

Amanda isn't the only famous face to lend their voice to PETA.

Sharon Osbourne, Paul O'Grady and late Sir Roger Moore, and many others have teamed up with the organisation to speak out against marine-mammal captivity.

Meanwhile, Amanda has revealed she wants to "spin out" her judging role on Britain's Got Talent for as long as possible.

The judge once said she planned to quit the hit TV contest after a decade but is now in her 11th year on the show.
