ANNA Windass shocked fans with her return to Coronation Street tonight.
The character, played by Debbie Rush, came to rescue her son Gary and Sarah Louise Platt after the pair were tied up by Phelan at the builder’s yard
Last seen being sentenced to five years in prison, Anna had somehow got out of jail to come to the rescue.
Anna ominously promised the pair: “I won’t let him get away with it again.”
Fans were quick to voice their hopes that Anna would finally bring Phelan’s crime spree to an end.
One tweeted: “Anna made a shocking come back and I love it. Tonight has been intense to watch.”
Another added: “This one I didn’t see coming! Here’s hoping Anna gets the ultimate sweet revenge!”
Others questioned how Anna had got out of prison after Phelan framed her for attempted murder.

Clearly Anna had been part of the plan to lure Phelan back to the cobbles but it all went wrong when the serial killer barged into Eileen’s and demanded to see his grandson.
Anna, Gary and Sarah Lou rushed towards the house but before they made it inside, a gunshot rang out and fans feared that the serial killer had claimed another victim.
