Stephen Mulhern says he ‘doesn’t know’ if Britain’s Got Talent will tighten up security after stage invader hit buzzers during live show
The judges screamed in shock after the unnamed man stormed the stage at the Hammersmith Apollo and pushed all the buzzers during last night’s show
STEPHEN Mulhern has admitted he doesn't know if Britain's Got Talent bosses will tighten up security after last night's show was interrupted by a stage invader.
Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon were left stunned when the unnamed man ran towards their desk and pressed their buzzers.
During today’s episode of This Morning, Britain’s Got More Talent host Stephen addressed the incident and made it clear everyone felt nervous ahead of tonight's show.
He explained: “The judges got a shock. It was a bit bizarre and it changed the atmosphere.
“You know, we’ve gone from a studio with 500 people to a theatre with 3,000. It will be interesting to see if the security is tightened up but who knows.”
Head judge Simon flicked the V sign to the person who had run into the auditorium and Stephen confirmed the music mogul was angry.
He explained: “Of course [he was angry]. You don’t want to put it out there that guy could have done anything really.
“It was a shock to everybody. Let’s see what happens [tonight].”
It isn't the first time the show has had to deal with a stage invader, as back in 2013, musician Natalie Holt threw eggs at Simon, a year after competing on the programme.
Meanwhile his other hit show, The X Factor has also seen a number of impostors break on to the stage during live performances.
In 2014, comedian Lee Nelson ran on as boyband Stereo Kicks performed, and DJ Calvin Harris made an infamous appearance with a pineapple on his head back in 2009.
More recently, five men made it on stage while Honey G was rapping in 2016.
This week's live shows have already seen a couple of incidents, including the moment it was forced off air due to technical difficulties.
