Cheryl WON’T be returning to X Factor… but Simon Cowell didn’t want her anyway

A source said that Simon urged Cheryl to sign up for talent show The Greatest Dancer rather than return to the ITV programme

CHERYL won't be returning to X Factor as she wants to do something "new and fresh".

According to a new report, the star wants to balance being mum to baby Bear with her TV commitments.

A source close to the singer told :  "She has done the X Factor lots of times and she wants something new and fresh to get going on.

"Starring on the X Factor would undoubtedly have helped push that, but she also has her son Bear to think about in terms of how much time she spends working.

And Simon Cowell is in total agreement with Cheryl's plans, wanting her to sign on to the BBC programme The Greatest Dancer rather than return to the X Factor.

The insider said: "The feeling was mutual."

The news will come as a blow to fans hoping that Cheryl would be replacing the departing Nicole Scherzinger on the judging panel.

But Cheryl will still be working with Simon in some capacity - The Greatest Dancer is produced by his company Syco.

The Sun's Bizarre column first reported how Cheryl had signed on to appear on the new BBC talent show earlier this year.

Back in February, she even filmed a run-through for the new show.

Cheryl will act in a mentoring role as a “dance captain” on the entertainment series.

In the practice run, Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon, 39, and Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo, 25, hosted the show — which is planned for Saturday nights on BBC1.

Glee star Matthew Morrison, 39, and Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 27, helped to make up the coaching panel.
