Did Bryce rape Hannah and Jessica in 13 Reasons Why?

At the beginning of series one of 13 reasons Why, Bryce (Justin Prentice) was painted to be a relatively nice guy - but this couldn't be further from the truth.

Bryce was a serial rapist and attacked both Hannah (Katherine Langford) and Jessica (Alisha Boe).

First he attacked Jessica, after her boyfriend Justin (Brandon Flynn) left her drunk and unconscious in a bedroom at a party.

Bryce entered the room and raped her as she slept - with Hannah hiding in the bedroom too scared to move. This dealt with in Tape 11.

Fast forward to Tape 12, and then the main reason Hannah kills herself is revealed - she too was raped by Bryce.

It happened when Hannah stumbled upon a party Bryce was throwing in his backyard, and a drunk Jessica invited her to join them in the hot tub.

But after Justin, Jessica, and the others leave, Bryce climbed in the tub and raped Hannah.

On the tape, Hannah says Bryce is the one who "broke her soul".

Will Bryce got to jail for being a rapist in season two?

While exact plot details of 13 Reasons Why season two were kept under wraps, fans of the Netflix show were hoping that Bryce would finally go to jail for his crimes.

When the new series aired on Netflix on May 18, it became clear that the focus would very much be on bringing Bryce to justice - not just for Hannah but for Jessica, too.

The season follows Jessica's struggle to come to terms with - and remember - what happened to her.

It also transpires that Bryce raped his girlfriend Chloe multiple times, but his intimidation tactics force her into silence.

Urged and supported by Clay, Alex, Justin and the others, Jess eventually decides to testify against Bryce and pursue a criminal case against him.

Justin also testifies against his best friend and relays the events of the night of Jessica's party.

In a powerful scene, Jessica addresses her attacker in her court statement, calling out the long-term affects of his actions on her life and how his sentencing should reflect his crimes, but also be a sign to other rape survivors that their story will be heard.

After listening to both Jessica and Bryce's lawyer, the judge finally decides that - given it's his first offence - he should be given the option to redeem himself.

He's given just three months community service and decides to transfer to a private school, returning to Liberty High for the interim.

What's more, when testifying against Bryce, Justin knowingly surrenders himself to the hands of the law and is arrested for his part in the attack - serving 3 months more than Bryce in a juvenile detention facility.

It is unknown whether Netflix will renew the series for a third season after complaints about the series finale.

However, it was heavily suggested that if there was a third instalment Bryce will get his comeuppance and his girlfriend Chloe will play a bigger part in the story.
