Beach Boys in Glastonbury comeback talks after not so Good Vibrations since 2012 reunion tour
THE Beach Boys spent half a century sending out Good Vibrations but could have used some themselves.
Relations between singer Mike Love and bandmate Brian Wilson have been strained since the end of their 2012 reunion tour, but in a miraculous U-turn Mike has raised hopes of a full-on comeback.
In an exclusive interview with Bizarre, he revealed he is back in contact with his cousin Brian — and desperate to perform in Glastonbury’s legends slot, which has previously hosted Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie.
Brian claimed he and the other original members had been “fired” by co-founder Mike after their 50th anniversary celebrations. But Mike — who tours as The Beach Boys — insisted he hadn’t wielded the axe.
Talking about the possibility of performing with Brian again, he said: “Yeah, it would be good if we could find the right way in which to do it. We are in contact.
“He had a back operation the other day so I sent him a message. There’s a lot of love there.
“There’s been nothing discussed recently but I’m not against anything. Anything could happen. I would absolutely love to go to Glastonbury.
“We did 175 shows last year so we stay pretty busy. We would love nothing more than to do that slot at the festival.”
Mike and Brian, along with bandmates Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston, have been involved in a new album, The Beach Boys With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which is out on June 8 and features their original vocals from 17 of their hits.
Mike hinted they could reunite live with the orchestra at Glasto.
The singer, who plays London’s Hampton Court Palace next month, said: “I prefer the live music side.
“I’m hoping we will be able to do something special with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, perhaps.”
Organiser Michael Eavis better get on the phone.

Astro Monkeys
ARCTIC Monkeys will be first in the queue for the new Star Wars film in a fortnight if their new album is anything to go by.
Frontman Alex Turner has said their first record in five years, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, is all about sci-fi movies.
He said: “It started with the idea of science-fiction and how it’s often used – the worlds that are created within it or the idea of space travel or time travel, or whatever it might be – to describe or put out there an idea about the world we’re living in.”
It sounds different, too, after Alex ditched his guitar in favour of a piano.
Speaking on Radio 1 last night, he said: “The guitar had sort of lost its ability to give me ideas, it seemed like.
“Every time I sat with a guitar I was suspicious of where it was going to go.”
The jury’s out for now.

BOND movie Miss Moneypenny Naomie Harris forgets about going under cover. She shared this bikini snap yesterday from her sun-soaked trip to Majorca.
Paid lots of lolly, Bella?
BELLA Hadid may be at the Cannes Film Festival but she looks ready for a game of tennis in the sunshine rather than a trip to the pictures to sit in the dark and watch a movie.
However it turns out the American supermodel didn’t have Wimbledon or films in mind as she hit the south of France – she was there to promote ice cream.
Bella was accompanied by US designer Alexander Wang yesterday, who she has teamed up with to plug Magnum lollies.
Asked how she brings pleasure to her life, she said (predictably): “Eating ice cream a lot, and actually, only Magnum ice cream.”
Doesn’t look much like it to me.

Brit ain't enough
AMY Winehouse and Adele both went to the The BRIT School for Performing Arts but that hasn’t inspired some newer hopefuls.
Another former pupil, rising star Kara Marni has said she wasn’t a fan of the South London academy, even though she met her pal Raye there.
Kara, who released brilliant debut EP Love Just Ain’t Enough yesterday, said: “BRIT School was an interesting journey. I found it very competitive. It wasn’t an environment I found encouraging of growth. It was all very against each other, and I’m not like that.”
Kara is supporting Rita Ora on her Girls tour, which kicks off in Glasgow tonight.
I’m sure Rita will be a friendlier face.

Liam's loo-ky lady
LIAM Payne made his ten-year age gap with Cheryl clearer than ever during an interview on Radio 1.
He showed his childish side as, live on air, he interrupted his girlfriend while she was on the toilet.
To make things worse, DJ Nick Grimshaw left Cheryl more red-faced by asking if she was having “a No1 or No2”.
The cringeworthy moment came as Grimmy phoned Liam ahead of his Live Lounge appearance yesterday and asked him who had the biggest entourage out of the couple.
Liam could then be heard calling: “‘Chez, are you there? Where are you?’ She’s actually in the toilet, this is hilarious.”
The singer added: “She’s going to kill me after this.”
It was a bad day for Cheryl after the pair had their appeal to turn their country home in Surrey into a “mega-mansion” rejected.
Seems unnecessary anyway.

Pinch of Spice Girls
THEY spent months keeping their reunion plans secret but the Spice Girls now seem at pains to keep reminding us it’s happening.
Three of them met at a London hotel yesterday, with Emma Bunton posting this snap of herself with Mel B and Geri Horner on Instagram.
Tellingly, there was no sign of Victoria Beckham or Mel C.
It’ll be interesting to see if the girls are still smiling this much a few months down the line.

- RENE-Charles Angelil is getting into music like his mum Celine Dion. He unveiled tracks Never Stop and The Apple on music sharing platform SoundCloud on Tuesday under his hip-hop name Big Tip. The explicit raps are a far cry from his mother’s ballads. I’m not sure Celine will be very impressed.
- MARIAH Carey is swapping her Vegas residency for donkey rides and fish and chips in Blackpool. The US superstar has agreed to make her only UK appearance this year to headline Livewire Festival. She will be joined by Matt Goss and Boyz II Men at the event from August 23 to 26. I hope she finds time to visit the Pleasure Beach.
- SINGLE men across the globe can rejoice – as Ariana Grande has split from rapper Mac Miller after two-and-a-half years of dating. He reportedly called time on the relationship when their work schedules became too busy. The pair have apparently decided to remain friends. I wonder how long that will last.
- PARIS Jackson’s uncle Tito is rooting for her to make it in the film world. He thinks his niece can crack Hollywood like her girlfriend Cara Delevigne.
