Avicii lands 10 hits in the global top 50 as he takes over Spotify charts following his tragic death
AVICII'S songs are dominating Spotify's Global 50 chart in the days following the DJ's sudden death.
The Swedish EDM star, real name Tim Bergling, died in Muscat, Oman, on April 20, aged just 28.
Fans of Avicii's work have been devastated by the shock news and have been listening to his hits on repeat since his death, sending 10 of his tracks into the top 50.
Meanwhile in Sweden an incredible eight of the top 10 are Avicii tracks.
In the UK his track Levels is the highest charting re-entry, reaching number five.
TMZ reported that the star looked "happy and healthy" as he flashed a peace sign while spending time with friends the day before his death.
The cause of death is currently unknown, but the DJ had been open about his health struggles in the past.
He shocked fans in 2016 when he announced he would be retiring from touring for the sake of his well-being.
Back in 2014, Avicii had been forced to cancel a series of gigs so he could recover from having his gallbladder and appendix removed.
He also had acute pancreatitis - which was in part due to excessive drinking - but he admitted he felt "free" and "happy" after his decision to retire.
In the days before he died Avicii had told fans he was preparing for the next stage of his life.
He said in a statement: “We all reach a point in our lives and careers where we understand what matters the most to us.
“For me it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do.
“Last year I quit performing live, and many of you thought that was it. But the end of live never meant the end of Avicii or my music.

“Instead, I went back to the place where it all made sense – the studio.
“The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.”
His heartbroken family has flown to Oman after the DJ's shock death.
Police said criminality was not suspected.
