Holly Willoughby correctly predicts Kate Middleton will give birth to a baby boy thanks to her ‘psychic banana’

The Royal baby weighs a healthy 8lbs 7oz and was born at 11.01am inside St Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing.

The 37-year-old asked the banana if Kate would have a boy before cutting through the tip of the fruit to reveal a Y-shape inside, indicating a yes.

Before slicing it, she said: "If it's a dot it's a no. If it's a Y it's a yes."

The trick can be done with any old banana, using the shape inside to answer yes or no questions.

Holly and Phillip Schofield then segued to live outside the hospital where Kate had her baby.

Holly, whose chic striped dress saw fans go wild today, said: "Weirdly, whenever I hear someone's in labour I get filled with this inner jealously. It's just the most magic moment when you hold that baby for the first time.

"I hope she's enjoying this time."

The banana has previous success at predicting the sex of babies as well as sporting victories.

Phil even confidently concluded the boy will be called Albert.

Prince William and Kate's third child will soon be met by big brother Prince George, and big sister Princess Charlotte, while royal fans are already outside the hospital, ready to greet the future fifth-in-line to the throne.

Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid wish Duchess of Cambridge well as she's admitted to Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital ahead of giving birth

In a tweet this morning, Kensington Palace confirmed Kate had gone into labour, writing: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labour.

"The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."

Kensington Palace had confirmed that the new royal baby was on the way on September 4, 2017 - with bookies quick to take punts at what royal baby number three will be named.

How you can use your own mystic banana

Here's the easy to do hack that helped Holly Willoughby predict the future

The origins of the 'psychic banana' aren't clear, but numerous people have had positive predictions by using the shapes that appear inside the fruit to answer questions.

Firstly you need a banana. Any old banana will do but probably better to go for a nice ripe yellow one.

Then simply ask the fruit a simple yes or no question.

Slice all the way though it at the tip and check the middle of the fruit for either a Y shape or a dot.

If a Y is revealed that's a yes, if a dot it's a no.

Happy questioning!

William and Kate chose not to find out if they were having a boy or girl before the birth.

According to Ladbrokes, punters believe that the Duchess of Cambridge will give birth to her second son - named Arthur.

Arthur (5/1), Mary (6/1), Alice (7/1) and James (8/1) currently lead the way as the favourites to be the moniker of choice.
