What does Avicii mean?

"Avicii" means the lowest level of Buddhist hell or Naraka.

In Sanskrit and Pali it means "without waves".

In English it can be translated as "interminable" or "incessant."

According to Buddhism, those sent to Avici can be reborn.

What was Avicii's real name?

Avicii's real name was Tim Bergling.

He chose Avicii as his stage name as his real name was already taken on MySpace.

He added the extra "i" to Avici to distinguish himself from another MySpace user.

In the Vevo video Becoming Avicii he said, "I think a friend of mine told me about it first for something completely different, and I was kind of choosing my MySpace page at the time.

"Everything else was taken, my real name was taken. I really like it now though. I've really gotten accustomed to it."

What is Avicii's symbolism in Buddhism?

Those sent to Avici hell can be reborn but here they will suffer the longest out of all the other levels of hell.

It is believed that someone can work off their bad karma after several aeons or "kalpas" and for this reason Avicii is also called the "non-stop way."
In Buddhism there are Five Grave Offenses and people sent to Avici have usually committed at least one of them.

They include killing your father, killing your mother, killing an Arhat (enlightened being), shedding the blood of a Buddha.

The fifth Grave Offense is creating a divide withing the Sangha (the community of Buddhist monks who try to attain enlightenment).

How did Avicii die?

Avicii was found dead in Muscat, Oman, on April 20, 2018.

On April 26, 2018, his family confirmed that he had taken his own life.

In a statement, they said: “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most — music… He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
