Dale Winton took ‘amphetamines and slimming pills that kept him awake for three days’ in desperate attempt to stay youthful
DALE Winton confessed to taking “super strong slimming pills and amphetamines” in a bid to stay in shape before his death.
The 62-year-old tragically passed away suddenly on Wednesday.
Dale made no secret of his quest to stay youthful, admitting to having two facelifts and a nose job over the past few years.
But his obsession with looking good saw him becoming a “yo-yo dieter” and Dale revealed he became obsessed with his weight.
In his book, My Story, Dale said he started worrying about his weight shortly after his father died when he was just 13-years-old.
At his heaviest, Dale explained he weighed 18 stone and forced himself to diet after being branded a “fatty” during a live radio broadcast.
He visited his GP who issued him with appetite suppressant drugs, which he didn't realise were amphetamines.
In extracts published by l, Dale wrote: “I would never dream of doing illegal drugs, but these were on prescription and they were supposed to help me lose weight.
“They gave me a real buzz, such energy. Of course I didn’t realise they were amphetamines.”
He later turned to stronger pills after the previous tablets saw him gain weight, rather than lose it.
Dale continued: “I went to a private doctor, who prescribed super-strength pills.
“The first time I took one, I didn’t sleep for three days. That really triggered the weight loss.”
As he grew older, friends said Dale started chasing his youth.
After his death, LBC DJ Steve Allen, said: “He didn't like the ageing process, he hated it. He used to say to me, 'I've had enough'.
