Co-worker Moira Pollack comments when Johnny pops into the medical centre and, while Liz, played by Corrie legend Beverley Callard, tells her she’s got the wrong end of the stick, does she protest too much?
Moira has already accused Liz of fancying the Connor family patriarch after the pair spent an afternoon getting sloshed in the abandoned factory on a bottle of brandy.
Liz then had to help Johnny’s wife Jenny break the news to him that she'd put down a deposit on a villa in Spain.
Eagle-eyed Moira had noticed Liz and Johnny bonding, but Liz soon set her straight when she met Mike Thornberry, former Brookside star Louis Emerick, in the Rovers and began flirting with him.
But later, on a night out with Mike, Liz finds she can’t stop herself from stealing furtive glances at Johnny.
