Ryan Thomas hints at parenting struggle with ex Tina O’Brien over her decision to paint their nine-year-old daughter’s nails
RYAN Thomas today hinted at a parenting struggle with his ex Tina O'Brien, after she painted their nine-year-old-daughter's nails.
The Neighbours hunk posted a picture which showed him taking Scarlett to get the nail varnish removed.
Taking to Instagram, the former Coronation Street star shared a picture of his young daughter looking cross, as a beautician wiped the varnish from her fingers.
He captioned the pic: "So mummy puts nail varnish on, daddy takes it off 😡"
Ryan, 33, and Tina, 34, started dating in 2003 after meeting on the set of Corrie when they played onscreen couple Sarah Platt and Jason Grimshaw.
They welcomed Scarlett in October 2008, but they decided to split in 2009.
Tina then went on to welcome a second child, son Beau, with her current partner Adam Crofts.
Ryan, meanwhile, is enjoying a romance with former Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh.
She revealed it was down to the fact that her current partner Adam got on so well with Ryan.
Speaking to The Sun she said: “It’s taken a lot of years and a lot of biting my tongue. Seriously, though, it’s mainly down to Adam and Ryan.
“It helps that everyone has moved on and is in a happy place, and we are happy, so there aren’t any issues.
“For the sake of Scarlett, it has been well worth preserving [our relationship] and choosing our battles.”
However it was quite the different story shortly after they split.
In 2010 Tina admitted the couple had been struggling for a while after Scarlett's birth, after having a baby changed the dynamics of their six year relationship.
Speaking to at the time she said: "About a week before Scarlett's first birthday, he said he didn't love me any more.
"He said I didn't do it for him any more. Those were his words.
"I was absolutely devastated. He said he didn't want the responsibility of a relationship with me."
