Luke Cage is returning for a second season, but fans will have to wait longer than expected
LUKE Cage fans have already been waiting a long time for their second dosage of the former convict with unbreakable skin.
Netflix is ramping up its superhero roster with the streaming service aiming to release two Marvel series a year, so when can we expect Luke Cage season two to drop? Here's the lowdown...
Luke Cage season two is out Friday, June 22 on
The first season was released September 2016 to positive reviews and all episodes are available on catch-up.
Although Luke hasn't been on any solo outings in a while, he has made crossover appearances in The Defenders and Jessica Jones season two.
The second season will pick up after Luke Cage has cleared his name.
He has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem and gained a reputation.
Cage will face a new enemy and be forced to battle the blurred lines between hero and villain.
The new villain is Rosalie Carbone, who's been described as “a dangerous downtown criminal underworld power player with an eye, and an agenda, toward Harlem.”
Mike Colter returns to play former convict Luke Cage, who possesses superhuman strength and unbreakable "bulletproof" skin. He uses his power to fight crime and is romantically linked with Jessica Jones.
He'll be joined by Simone Missick as Mercedes 'Misty' Knight, Alfred Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Hernan Alvarez and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
Joining the Luke Cage cast in season two will be Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis. Mustafa has been cast as 'natural leader' John McIver, while Gabrielle will play brilliant but holistic doctor Tilda Johnson.
It's also been confirmed that Finn Jones, better known as Iron Fist, will be making an appearance in season two.
