Why did Ross Barton try to commit suicide?

Ross Barton was the victim of an acid attack which has left him with bad scarring and a painkiller addiction.

His confidence was further knocked when he met Rebecca White in The Woolpack.

In order to win a bet Rebecca played a cruel trick on Ross by pretending to fancy him despite his disfigurement.

Ross then dealt with the shame and embarrassment by taking a mixture of pills and alcohol down by the lake.

Who discovers Ross when he tries to commit suicide?

Ross' brother Pete finds out the truth from Rebecca so goes out to look for him.

Luckily he finds him in the nick of time.

But Ross is left fighting for his life after his acid attack wounds, which were inflicted on him accidentally, turn septic.

Ross was the victim when Debbie tried to take revenge on Joe Tate and urged drug dealer Simon McManus to get in Joe’s head and mess with him.

Unknown to Debbie, Simon was armed with a corrosive substance and Simon ended up going after the wrong man and attacked Ross instead.

It was believed that Joe Tate ordered the attack, but lying in a hospital bed after being shot, Debbie confessed to Ross.

"It wasn't Joe, it was me," she said.

When did he shoot Debbie Dingle and why?

Debbie Dingle was left fighting for her life after Ross shot her.

She walked in on Ross as he was taking Joe Tate and Graham foster hostage.

As Joe fought to get the gun from Ross, it went off accidentally and fired straight at Debbie.

Debbie manages to survive the shooting but shortly after her daughter Sarah manipulated her and boyfriend Joe Tate dumped her.
