Countdown fans freak out as Rachel Riley reveals 666 in numbers round on Friday 13th
COUNTDOWN took a spooky turn as 666 appeared as the total in the first number round - fitting for today's date of Friday 13.
The number of the beast was met with a deep exhale from show host Nick Hewer, but the contestants didn't let the total faze them.
Some viewers were scared by the coincidence, with one writing: "It's Friday the 13th and 666 just came up on Countdown 😨."
It's not the first time 666 has appeared above the number board.
In fact, last February its appearance once again got viewers talking in the Twittersphere.
"Mark of the devil... #countdown," wrote one.
While another said: "weeeellllll.... countdown is possessed."
More commonly it's the occasional naughty phrase that gets Countdown fans amused.
Last month Rachel Riley was left more than a little red-faced after rearranged letters on the task board revealed the words "no panties".
The 32-year-old co-host was left blushing as she stood beside the naughty phrase, leaving the studio audience and the viewers at home in stitches.
Hewer, alongside guests Susie Dent and Strictly's Len Goodman, miraculously didn't seem to notice the passing moment as Rachel stared awkwardly at the board next to her.
Instead Susie and Len just commented: "We got panties as well!"
"Great, so we've got two panties," noted Nick.
Viewers quickly took to Twitter to comment on the hilarious moment and branded the stunning star a "naughty minx" for the faux pas which suggested she wasn't wearing underwear.
One fan joked: "I don’t blame you @RachelRileyRR - wouldn’t want a knicker line in that lovely dress!! 😂"
Another added: “I would love to know what the most embarrassing word that ever came up on the board was Rachel?”
"glad to hear it, i think Jon Richardson would have a melt down with his OCD" quipped a third.
While another wasn't quite buying it and said: "Maybe not @RachelRileyRR But I am still thinking that now...Where there’s smoke and all that!"
Even Rachel saw the funny side of the moment and posted her own tweet commenting: "The letters board’s trolling again!
"Trust me, I would never go to work with...[no panties]."
