When was it announced?

The show was announced as part of this year's Saturday Night Takeaway finale in Orlando on April 7.

Dec revealed, via a fake call to ITV bosses, that In For A Penny will become its own show.

In the past, Stephen has made no secret of the fact he thought In For A Penny could be a show, stating last year: “We’re hoping to get it off the ground later this year.

“We just need some time to work on it. Ideally, we’d make the cash prizes bigger too, just to up the ante.”

What's the sketch In For A Penny about?

The game, which has always been a segment of Saturday Night Takeaway, involves Stephen springing on members of the public as he gives them the chance to win £1000 with just 1p.

The rounds are always silly, with members of the public having to guess things such as Stephen’s age or shows that he hosts.

He always wears a gold sparkly jacket during the sketch.

It's been a running joke throughout Saturday Night Takeaway, Stephen would ask for a spin-off series.

Who will it be hosted by?

In For A Penny will continue to be hosted by Stephen Mulhern.

In a statement, ITV said: "In For A Penny has been commissioned for a series on ITV, hosted by Stephen Mulhern."

As well as hosting on Saturday Night Takeaway, the magician has hosted on More Talent and Catchphrase.

He also co-hosts a radio show on Heart.fm with Emma Willis.
