Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer gives fans a new look at Alden Ehrenreich as young Han Solo alongside Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover
THE action-packed second trailer for the new Star Wars film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, has given fans a fresh glimpse of its all-star cast.
Alden Ehrenreich leads the line-up as a young Han Solo, and is joined in the latest highly-anticipated offering from the famous film franchise by Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton and Woody Harrelson.
Set in Han Solo's early life, the new trailer gives film-goers their best look so far at the second Star Wars spin-off film, which follows on from 2016's Rogue One.
It opens with a voice-over from Emilia Clarke, who plays Qi'Ra, asking Alden Ehrenreich's Han Solo: "You're after something. Is it revenge? Money? Or something else?"
The Hollywood actress can then be seen in shot for the first time, wearing a slinky black dress and sporting dark hair.
She tells the up-and-coming American actor: "You look good. A little rough around the edges. But good."
The trailer then flashes through a number of impressive action scenes, and sees the beginning of Han's friendship with Chewbacca.
Directed by Ron Howard, the new spin-off film also features Woody Harrelson as Han's mentor, and Donald Glover as an intergalactic con-man.
While the trailer may leave a lot of questions unanswered, the full film will aim to finally explain how Han Solo became the greatest smuggler in the galaxy.
It will also detail how the legendary character first met his furry best friend Chewbacca, played by Joonas Suotamo.
The movie will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, with UK fans able to see it in the cinema from May 24.
It has been produced by Lucasfilm from a screenplay by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The broad plot has already been revealed, with Han meeting his future co-pilot Chewbacca during an adventure to the dark criminal underworld.
Afterwards they will encounter baddie Lando Calrissian, in the years before joining the Rebellion.
The new film comes ahead of the anticipated release in December 2019 of Star Wars Episode IX.
It will follow on from Stars Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017).
While the title has not yet been revealed to the public, we do know that the film is expected to be the last instalment of the Skywalker saga.
