Peter Kay makes bizarre Jimmy Savile jokes and impersonation as he’s seen for the first time since cancelling tour due to ‘family reasons’

PETER Kay joked about paedophile Jimmy Savile as he made his return to stage last night.

The comedian, 44, unexpectedly cancelled his tour last year citing “family reasons” but surprised an audience at a charity screening last night when he appeared onstage.

However in footage obtained by , he was seen bringing up sex abuser Savile’s TV kids’ TV show Jim’ll Fix It and repeating his famous catchphrase, “Now then, now then.”

Ahead of the screening he brought up the disgraced late BBC presenter again, saying: "I'd like to say we forgive you but we don't."

An audience member at the event told the Mirror Online: "We came back from the interval and suddenly an audio came on of Peter Kay's voice and we all thought it was just the start of the next episode.

"He was saying 'Now then, now then’ in the style of Jimmy Savile. Suddenly a spotlight came out and he walked onstage. The audience went crazy.

"We thought he looked really well and had obviously lost a lot of weight.”

The comedian cancelled his nationwide tour unexpectedly last year citing family issues, and hasn't made a public appearance since, but now he has been pictured on stage at a charity screening of the final episode of his comedy Car Share.

Fans who attended the screening posted pictures of the funnyman at the screenings in Blackpool on social media.

He told the crowd via video message: “What we’ve done is something a little bit different.

“We used to drive around quite a bit and we just wanted to see what would happen if we filmed a whole journey without a script, just making it up.”

Fans hailed him a "comedy genius" after a charity screening of the "perfect" final episode.
The screening of the comedy was held at the Blackpool Opera House.

After the episode finished, fans flocked to Twitter to express their delight and thank Peter, 44, for his work on the series.

However, they vowed not to give away the ending.
