Love Simon is a teen romance about a boy coming out — and it’s long overdue

Jurassic World actor Nick Robinson displays a sharp wit and plenty of charm as Simon, who's blackmailed over emails revealing his sexuality, while Alexandra Shipp shines as his feisty pal Abby

ONE of the most remarkable things about this film is that it has taken so long for a major studio to make a teen romance about a boy coming out.

Why did we have to wait until 2018 to see a funny, big-hearted drama on this important topic?

While the young actors all impress, Josh Duhamel is too syrupy as Simon’s dad and I would like someone other than Jennifer Garner to be cast as the caring mum in the next   family drama I watch.

She really has been typecast beyond endurance. But that’s nitpicking because this is a crowd-pleaser for teens who are sure to love Love, Simon.
