Kendall and Kylie Jenner ‘reach a settlement’ with Tupac photographer following ‘disrespectful’ T-shirt range
The celebrity sisters were hit with a lawsuit after a photographer branded their use of his imagery 'misappropriating and wrongfully exploiting'
KENDALL and Kylie Jenner have reportedly settled their copyright infringement lawsuit after using rapper Tupac’s image on a “disrespectful” T-shirt.
According to , the fashion mogul sisters have put an end to their feud with the photographer who took the snap and reached an agreement.
They were sued for the copyright infringement after putting on sale a series of T-shirts in their Kendall and Kylie fashion collection which saw photos of them layered over images of Tupac, Notorious B.I.G and other dead celebrities.
Each shirt was sold at £88 ($125) a piece but was soon pulled from the shelves due to the backlash.
Michael Miller – the photographer responsible for the photos of the rapper killed in a drive-by shooting in 1996 – took the pair to court for “misappropriating and wrongfully exploiting” his artistic works.
It has not been confirmed whether he agreed to an out of court settlement, but both parties will be covering their own legal fees following the suit.
Miller wasn’t the only person upset with the shirts, after family and fans of the Hit Em Up singer branded the pair “disrespectful” for their use of the star on their garments.
In one photo, an Instagram snap of Kylie jumping out of a pool in a white bikini is placed on top of a black and white photo of Tupac, with his birth and death dates written underneath.
The use of his image was brought head-to-head when Voletta Wallace, the mother of iconic rapper Notorious BIG, called the shirts “exploitation at its worst".
Kendall and Kylie later issued a joint apology on Twitter.
They wrote: "These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologise to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists.
