Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith admits she and Paul Hollywood are too fat

CAKE-gobbling Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has admitted both her Channel 4 colleague Paul Hollywood are overweight.

The South African chef, 78, said that her and the portly baker, 52, need to slim down drastically.

She said: “Paul and I are both slightly overweight.

“I mean, I should lose a stone.

“And probably Paul should lose half a stone. But the truth is that we don’t eat very much cake.”

And Prue, who replaced Mary Berry as Paul’s co-judge on the show when it moved to Channel 4 last year, said she was initially reluctant because of her work as a healthy eating commentator.

She added to Waitrose Food magazine: “The jury’s absolutely out on whether these food programmes — particularly ‘cakey’, high-sugar ones — are doing more harm than good.

“I mean, there’s no doubt that more people are baking - and that’s good, because most people who get into cooking do so through baking.

“But on the other hand, maybe people watch Bake Off - then simply go out and buy more cake and stuff their faces with it.”
