Coronation Street fans rage at Pat Phelan’s death as he gets away with murder

Many viewers wanted to see the evil character dragged through the courts for murdering three people

CORONATION Street fans have shared their rage after Pat Phelan was killed off.

The evil character met a watery end tonight after his wife Eileen let him fall to his death after confessing to three – technically four – murders.

Coronation Street fans shared their rage over Pat Phelan’s death tonight

But after months of build up, some viewers were disappointed Pat wasn’t caught and dragged through the courts for his crimes.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Wish #phelan would have paid for his crimes but still a fantastic episode. Brilliant acting from @Sue_Cleaver @connor9mcintyre #Corrie #FridayPhelan @itvcorrie.”

Another tweeted: “@itvcorrie I was really wanting #Phelan to go to prison not die in the water #NeedtorememberitsNotReal” while a third added: “Anyone else find Phelan’s exit/comeuppance very disappointing after everything he’s done”.

Eileen put an end to Pat’s reign of terror in tonight’s episode

She sent him flying over the side of the lighthouse into the freezing seas

He went into the water never to be seen from again – alive at least

A fellow soap fan tweeted how Phelan’s storyline could have been taken even further, writing: “Outstanding @connor9mcintyre but missed opportunities the trial, manipulating from prison, an escape.”

Meanwhile another angry viewer wrote: “I hate it when they don’t get proper justice, he needs to be punished not killed off! Disappointed.”

However hundreds of fans praised the episode, which saw Phelan admit to murdering Andy Carver, Vinny Ashford and Luke Britton, as well as watching Eileen’s former love Michael Rodwell die without calling for help.

In fact, many of them loved the ending, as they were convinced that without a dead body being found, it left the door open for Phelan to return in the future.
