Peter Kay ‘breaks his silence’ after cancelling stand up tour to release statement about charity screening of Car Share
PETER Kay has broken his silence after cancelling his stand up tour.
The 44-year-old comedian left fans devastated back in December when he pulling out of his entire UK tour due to "unforeseen family circumstances."
Since then, Peter has not been seen or heard from in public until today, when a tweet was posted on his official Twitter account.
It read: "Exciting news: A charity screening of new Peter Kay’s Car Share episodes will be held at Blackpool Opera House on Saturday 7th April.
"Tickets on sale Saturday at 9am."
While the tweet looked like something his team had published, the attached link to the Ticketmaster Blog about the event featured a statement from the man himself.
He said: "The Lily Foundation is an inspiring charity that helps to improve the lives of children with Mitochondrial Disease.
“I’ve had first-hand experience of the Foundation’s work and I’m proud to raise both awareness and much needed funds to help with the inspiring work they provide to children and their families.”
The event at the Blackpool Opera House will showcase four episodes from the hit BBC sitcom, which Peter wrote and starred in.
It will include two brand new episodes called Car Share: Unscripted plus the series finale, with all funds raised going to The Lily Foundation.
Back in December, Peter used his Twitter account to announce the sad news that he would be cancelling his tour.
In a statement he wrote: "Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
