At the start of the show, Richard complimented her dress and compared her to country legend Dolly Parton.

He later made another reference to her outfit, telling Lucy, 37, that viewers were going wild over her stylish look.

Richard said: “We’re still getting messages about that outfit. You’ll be rocking it for the next month.”

Lucy then admitted the denim dress may have been a bad choice, saying: “I’m a bit worried its going to shrink in the rain, which was not the greatest move for the weather today!”

Richard, 61, then joked: “I think you should pop outside at once and test it out!”

However, his gag didn’t go down well with some viewers, who took to Twitter to call him out over the remark.

One wrote: “Is it me or does anyone else find Richard Madeley creepy?”

Another added: “Richard Madeley makes ‘pervy’ comment about weather girl before introducing Me Too feature on GMB.”
