HIT SHOW FOR AMIR

Boxer Amir Khan and wife Faryal Makhdoom in talks for fly-on-the-wall series

AMIR KHAN was TV gold in last year’s I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! with his hilarious one-liners and strawberry-gate.

And TV execs are keen to give the former Olympian more airtime with Amir in talks for his own reality show.

I’m told ITV bosses want the boxer and his wife Faryal Makhdoom to take part in a Katie Price-style fly-on-the-wall series.

The show, which is being discussed for ITV2 or ITVBe, would follow the couple as they try to get their relationship back on track after a very public split last November.

An ITV source said: “Everyone was delighted to get Amir in I’m A Celeb as it was a hard sell to him and a bit touch and go whether he’d do it.

“As expected, he was really good value as he chickened out of challenges and dropped verbal clangers around the campfire.

“ITV bosses think he’d make more great telly if he did a fly-on-the-wall series with them.

“He’s a character and they think viewers would be very
interested in seeing how he is with Faryal and their daughter behind closed doors.

“It’s very early days in terms, but there seems to be interest on both sides.”

Amir and Faryal have had a rocky relationship since they married in 2013.

The boxer has faced numerous allegations of cheating and last August he suddenly announced on Twitter that he was divorcing Faryal over false claims she was messaging fellow boxer Anthony Joshua.

The pair reconciled just days before Amir entered the jungle.

One thing is for sure, the new show would be full of drama.

Ann's off her rocker

I HAD to do a double take when I saw this picture – you’d swear it showed Mick Hucknall and Rod Stewart coming together for a new supergroup.

But it is actually politician-turned-reality star Ann Widdecombe and This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford.

Is this Rod Stewart and Mickhucknall?

They donned the wild-haired outfits to introduce the investigation on Thursday night's episode of Do The Right Thing With Eamonn And Ruth.

The show, which screens on Channel 5 at 9pm, looks into a slump in the number of women rockers on the club circuit.

I would definitely pay to watch these two headbang.

Trevor royally fed up

He has been a regular part of the coverage of royal weddings over the decades, but Sir Trevor McDonald is looking forward to missing out on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day.

The former newsreader, who narrated the nuptials of Charles and Diana and also helped cover William and Kate's celebration, said: “I hope I won’t be covering the royal wedding this year – I’ve done too many.

"I prefer the documentary type now.

“They haven’t invited me. I’ve never met Meghan, but from what I see in pictures I think she is beautiful.

“I’ve heard Prince Harry speak about young leaders and he’s an absolutely brilliant, inspirational speaker.”

The broadcaster, above, whose new documentary about Martin Luther King is on ITV Thursday at 9pm, isn’t going to turn his back on the royals completely, however.

And he says retirement from all work is definitely out of the question.

He added: “As long as ITV keeps asking me to make documentaries I’d love to carry on doing it.

“I’m working on a documentary about the tradition of royal weddings at the moment.

“I’m not very good at figuring out what I should do and I’ve been lucky that people have asked me to do interesting things and I hope it lasts.”

Well, he certainly shows no signs of slowing down.

TOWIE fave Chloe Meadows has split from Taylor Barnett  after a year together.

Taylor will not return to the series, with a TV insider saying: “Chloe has tried her best to remain on good terms but it’s never easy.”

Kelv mucks in on Channel 5's Farm

ALL those years on Emmerdale’s Home Farm will come in handy for former star Kelvin Fletcher.

The actor, who played Andy Sugden for 20 years on the ITV soap, is dusting off his wellies and getting back on the tractor.

I can reveal Kelvin is joining the line-up for Channel 5’s new show, Springtime On The Farm.

The five-parter, which will be broadcast live over a week, is set to give BBC1’s Countryfile a run for its money with its coverage of the countryside and farming issues.

Show bosses have even signed up Beeb rival Adam Henson to improve the chances of scoring hit ratings.

Kelvin, inset bottom, and Countryfile star Adam will present the show alongside JLS pop star-turned-farmer JB Gill and Springwatch Unsprung host Lindsey Chapman.

As part of the show, the hosts will live on a Yorkshire farm and deal with the day-to-day jobs that come with it.

The show’s producers, who also make The Yorkshire Vet for Channel 5, say it will feature a live barn audience and videos from working farms all over the country.

Adam said: “As a farmer, it’s great to know the public has a thirst for programmes that look at what we do.

“There’s a real growth in audiences on all channels for fans of the countryside, and this new show promises to be a real celebration of farming at one of the busiest times of the year.”

Countryfile regularly pulls in more than 8million viewers on a Sunday night, so there’s clearly an appetite for more in the week.

Britain’s love affair with farming ploughs on.

In Emmerdale the terrible reality of Liv’s situation leaves her in despair, despite her best attempts to find some kind of solace.

Elsewhere, Lisa has to face the consequences of her actions and Marlon steps up his efforts to impress Jessie – although he might just have taken things a tad too far.

On Thursday there are two trips to Walford to catch up with the Eastenders folk. Stacey questions mum Jean about what she has just said, but Mo quickly steps in to cut her off.

Meanwhile, things get somewhat raucous at the Queen Vic as the residents of Albert Square celebrate the life of Kat.

But, in the second episode, who should walk in on her own wake but the leopard-coat-wearing Ms Slater herself . . .
