The reboot of Robot Wars has been culled after three series

The show, which was given a fresh lick of paint with new presenters Angela Scanlon and Dara O’Briain, failed to set ratings alight.

It followed teams of robot builders who would battle their creations head-to-head in a ring, and would often involve elaborate contraptions including circular saws and pick-axes in order to give them the edge.

This made fan favourites of the robots themselves – including Sir Killalot, a knight-inspired roboe with pincers and drills for hands.

The team behind the robot was one of the first to confirm the news, and wrote: “It was fun, but I guess some things are not meant to be. We’re sorry, to all our loyal fans.”

“It’s been an amazing three years and we look forward to competing overseas. Hopefully in our short 15 minutes of fame we have inspired a new generation of builders.”

There are now also Robot Redemption rounds, which give vanquished teams the opportunity to claw a way back.

Perhaps most exciting of all, we will also have the Ten Robot Rumble – with 10 teams battling to the death without a time limit.

In 2017, a clip from the show went viral when a member of Team Behemoth stormed off set and blamed his mates after he lost on the show to a group of schoolkids.
