Danny Boyle confirms he’s directing James Bond 25 as he looks to begin later this year
The director will reunite with the writer behind Trainspotting and The Beach
JAMES Bond's 25th cinematic outing is set to be a tale of two Danny's as the spy franchise reaches the momentous milestone.
Danny Boyle has confirmed that he will direct what is thought to be Daniel Craig's final outing as 007.
Spectre director Sam Mendes stepped away from the franchise soon after its 2015 release and speculation regarding his successor has been rife ever since.
Speaking to at a screening of his new TV show Trust, Danny Boyle confirmed his involvement in Bond 25, explaining: "We are working on a script right now. And it all depends on that really."
He added: "I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in 6 or 7 weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now."
The 61-year-old director and producer went on to discuss the script, adding: "We've got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away."
Danny Boyle and John Hodge have previously worked together on classic movies Trainspotting and The Beach.
Danny's co-writer on Trust, Simon Beaufoy, displayed full confidence in his collaborator as he told reporters: "I don't know why he hadn't done one before. I think it's meant to be."
The director has already got a small amount of experience with Bond actor Daniel Craig after he directed the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony which featured a skit between James Bond and the Queen.
But in the months following, Danny seemed to rule out ever taking on a feature-length Bond adventure.
When asked by : "No, I'm not very good with huge amounts of money."
