The actress quit her role as Eva Price in Corrie after seven years

CATHERINE Tydlesley has started to audition for her first post-Coronation Street roles.

The actress - who quit her role as Eva Price in the ITV soap after seven years - has thrown herself into being a jobbing actress again by auditioning for new roles in dramas, The Sun Online can reveal.

A source said: "Cath has made no secret of the fact she wants to spread her wings a bit more.

"She loves Corrie and playing Eva but it was time to get back out there as a jobbing actress.

"She's started reading scripts and auditioning for new drama roles and it's a really exciting time for her."

The Sun revealed earlier this year how Cath had decided to leave her fan-favourite role in order to pursue new acting opportunities.

Catherine, 34, said at the time: "Coronation Street has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave."

She added that she wouldn't close the door on returning to the show as Eva in the future and it's believed the door will be left open for her comeback.

She added: "Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again.

"In the meantime I’m excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family."
