Rachel Riley slams Countdown viewer who tweeted about her knees
The presenter continues to be on the receiving end of unwanted critiques on social media
COUNTDOWN host Rachel Riley is taking no prisoners after her ankles received unwanted attention on social media.
The maths genius responded to overenthusiastic fans who commented on the state of her knees.
A message which commented on the presenter's knees has since been deleted but not before Rachel called out the user on their opinions.
She put: "I get these kind of messages every day... Sorry but your opinion of my knees is of little interest."
But it transpired that it was a case of crossed wires as the comment came from a devoted 73-year-old
fan of the Countdown presenter.
The user replied: "Thanks lovely Rachel, never had a reply from you before, after all the years making lovely comments, even running a Facebook #ClosedFanGroup for you with over 7000 members. Also donate & support all your favourite charities. So loving you lots xx"
Rachel replied to his message: "I do appreciate that, thank you. Again, sorry Mike I don't mean to draw negative attention, just not too keen on being tagged into comments about how I look."
She added: "Hope you understand x."
As fans continued to jump to Rachel's defence and attack the Twitter user, he added: "My apologies, no offence intended... my comment has now been deleted... but it certainly brought the trolls out of the woodwork."
Proving there are no hard feelings, Rachel told her fan: "Me neither, guess you would never realise the volumes of messages I and many other women get (maybe you right now) which can have a strange effect. No harm no foul!"
Rachel first joined Countdown in 2009 after the departure of Carol Vorderman.
The 32-year-old came in 11th position when she competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013.
Following the ban of Formula One grid girls, Countdown fans worried that Rachel Riley would also face the chop.
