Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid break silence following shock split
ZAYN Malik and Gigi Hadid have both broken their silence after The Sun revealed they had split after two years together.
In a statement on Twitter, Zayn described their relationship as “meaningful and loving” and revealed their split was a “difficult decision”, while Gigi said she would be "forever grateful for the love, time and life lessons" they shared.
Zayn wrote: “Gigi and I have a an incredibly meaningful , loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend.
“She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time.
“We love you all.”
Shortly afterwards, Gigi posted her own statement, which read: "Breakup statements often seem imperosnal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years... not only in the relationship, but in life in general.
"I'm forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever's meant to be will always be."
Earlier today The Sun revealed that Zayn, 25, and Gigi, 22, gradually drifted apart, due in part to work pressures, causing them to officially break up earlier this month.
Last night a source close to couple revealed: “Sadly Zayn and Gigi have separated.
“They are no longer a couple but they do remain close and are supportive of each other.

“The reality is that they’ve grown apart, having been together for a long time.
“They have crazy work schedules that would put pressure on any relationship.”
This afternoon Zayn hinted at the split in an Instagram post.
He said: "When Life throws you lemons , catch em so they don’t hit you in the f*****g face."
Zayn started dating Gigi in November 2015, three months after he ended his engagement to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, 24.
She had also split up with US pop heartthrob Joe Jonas, 28, just weeks before they got together.
