Wonder Wheel manages to be one of the worst Woody Allen films to date as an all around bad drama
Woody Allen doesn't need sexual abuse allegations to ruin his career as Wonder Wheel is worse than Cassandra's Dream or To Rome With Love
ACTORS are being questioned on why they will still appear in Woody Allen films after sexual abuse allegations.
But the director doesn’t need allegations to destroy his career, he’s doing that all by himself.
Somehow, he has managed to create a film worse than Cassandra’s Dream or To Rome With Love.
Like the Coney Island fairground wheel of the title, the dialogue goes round and round without any purpose, other than to provide a nostalgic view of Woody’s well worn plot devices.
There’s Kate Winslet’s “crazy” housewife Ginny falling in love with literary dreamer Mickey (Justin Timberlake) and ditzy femme Carolina (Juno Temple) running away from mobsters to her loser dad Humpty (Jim Belushi).
You can guess how it ends half way through.

Amazon Studios has clearly got more money than sense if it didn’t realise a cast of self-obsessed characters yapping on endlessly about their problems would be a cinematic turn- off.
As Winslet’s character says near the blessed finale, “Oh please, spare me the bad drama.”
The response, to which has to be, “Why didn’t you?”
