Makeup free Lorraine does a Helen Mirren as she goes bare-faced for fans on International Women’s Day

LORRAINE Kelly went bare-faced this morning for International Women's Day after being inspired by Dame Helen Mirren's makeup free selfie at the Oscars.

The 58-year-old TV host shared her before and after makeup pictures with viewers and encouraged other women to do the same.

Sharing the snap, the Scot said: "No filter, no make-up. There's me afterwards, it just shows you that no-one is camera ready until we are.

"We all look like that when we wake up in the morning."

The 58-year-old looked fresh faced in the before shot, smiling for the camera with her un-styled hair scraped back while the after shot showed her usual groomed appearance once the glam squad had got to work.

Lorraine then asked those watching at home to share their before and after makeup selfies.

Lorraine was inspired by Helen Mirren, who showed off her incredible Oscars transformation in a candid Instagram post on Sunday night.

The 72-year-old actress shared a picture of herself sitting in her hair and make-up chair before the awards ceremony.

She captioned the image: "Oscar night before.".

She then posted a pic fully made-up with the caption: "And after....with the help of those in the photo".

It comes after the Helen - who scooped the Best Actress Oscar for her role in The Queen back in 2006 revealed that's she's struggled a lifelong battle with insecurities.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, she confessed: "I have experienced insecurity all my life, and I still do on a daily basis. I remember having these panic attacks but not at the obvious moments.

"Because I have never felt beautiful. There are people who are beautiful and I'm objective enough to know that I don't fit into that category.

"For me, still now, it's to do with wit and intelligence rather than the way I look. I don't feel clever or funny enough."
