MARRIED At First Sight has ended in disaster for one couple – and happiness for the other.
Harriet and Richard have decided to divorce and Stephanie and Ben want to stay married.
Married At First Sight‘s Harriet and Richard realised they didn’t have anything in common and decided to walk away from their brief marriage after Harriet decided the relationship wouldn’t work without chemistry.
Speaking to the experts after revealing the decision to divorce, finance director Harriet said: “Obviously I didn’t want, expect it to end in divorce so I think I definitely leave with a heavy heart.”
However, police officer Richard, 28, admitted he was downcast by the decision and said he would have liked to give it longer.
He said: “It feels so rubbish to kind of not make your wife feel that way. I think deflated just hits the nail on the head.”
Richard added: “I think for me there was something there. So yeah, it’s really disappointing to know that it’s at the stage where we’re going to get a divorce.
“And I suppose it’s that kinda first point where there isn’t any hope and the decision has now been made.
“Is there more I could have done? I’m not sure. But I might have given it a little bit longer and more of a shot but ultimately if it’s not right then there’s no point forcing it.”
Harriet admitted she felt bad about the way things had worked out and became tearful at what had gone on.
She said: “I think I’ve found today particularly hard because I feel like I’ve let somebody down and that’s probably the worst part of it.
“You can’t force yourself to feel and it’s just really sad. I feel really upset that I haven’t been able to get there.”
Meanwhile, for police officer Steph, 32, and Ben there was a happier ending with the pair deciding to stick together and even exchanging the L word.
After property millionaire Ben whisked Steph away on a holiday to one of his apartments in Cyprus, the couple had a heart to heart and began to work on their issues together – and it worked.
Speaking to the experts, Steph said: “We’re absolutely going to stay married.”

Two months later: “We are going from strength to strength like the more time that passes, the better we are together.”
She added: “The word love has been mentioned and he said it first. I love him, as in I am in love with him yes.”
However, Ben admitted the pair were not living together but are planning a family for the future.
“She’s an amazing girl and in five years time it’d be nice to have a family together.”
At the end of the show, fans flocked to Twitter to debate the shock announcements.
Viewers bombarded newly-single Richard with offers of dates, but Ben wasn’t so lucky.
Many fans accused him of being “fake” and “using” Steph for fame.
They predicted the pair will split within months.
