Coronation Street’s Fiz and Tyrone lined-up to become the new Jack and Vera
It's been claimed they will be the antidote for the darker scenes Corrie has recently taken on
FIZ Brown and Tyrone Dobbs are being lined up as Coronation Street's saviours.
The couple - who are played by Jennie McAlpine and Alan Halsall in the ITV soap - are said to be the heirs to legendary cobbles couple Jack and Vera Duckworth, the couple who took in Tyrone as a teenager.
But now it's been claimed they will be the antidote for the darker scenes Corrie has recently taken on with the likes of murderous Pat Phelan, Bethany Platt's gang rape ordeal and her uncle David's upcoming sexual assault.
A source told the : “Producers have been listening to the criticism and are beginning to change the fabric of the show. “Their plans for Fiz and Tyrone should keep fans happy, at least for a bit.”
It comes after Jennie revealed there will be hell to pay for Gemma Winter when Fiz Brown discovers she's slept with Tyrone Dobbs.
The actress - who has played Fiz in the ITV soap for 17 years - has revealed Fiz's heartbreak will turn to revenge and a classic cobbles catfight with a different when she learns of the heartbreaking betrayal.
She told the Sun Online: "Oh she's devastated! Absolutely devastated. I think, they've been through so much - she says that and we have so many scenes where we talk about what we went through together and all the - she saw Tyrone at his most vulnerable with the Kirsty storyline and we got through that.
"And she kind of thought they were a bit unbreakable really. and that's not the case."
Jennie added: "In an absolute Coronation Street tradition, she hates Gemma more than Tyrone. There's a cat fight with a difference.
"There is violence involved! Chesney's there, Rita's there, Gemma's obviously there, Fiz is there, Tyrone turns up but it's a bit late - the damage is done.
"It's a new one! One that's not happened before, I don't think in Coronation Street.
"It's in two locations - it spills from one to the other. It ends up in the street. Yeah, we had to put a bit of light and shade into it didn't we, with all the distress, yeah, it's a bit of a daft one."
And Jennie's backing Fiz to win the fight over Gemma, despite Gemma's rough-round-the edges personality.
"But Fiz has been scorned," Jennie said.

"The thing that Gemma doesn't is that Fiz shows the world that she's a lady but really..."
And there doesn't seem to be a way back for Fiz and Tyrone with Fiz being so heartbroken.
Asked if Fiz could forgive the mechanic, Jennie said: "At the moment? Definitely not. She just feels so hurt by it and yeah - she's hurt, she's embarrassed because everyone knows."
