Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley could RETURN to the soap following exit this summer as bosses refuse to kill off Eva Price
CORONATION Street star Catherine Tyldesley may return to the soap in the future as bosses refuse to kill off her character.
Bosses will leave the door open for the actress, 34, who plays Eva Price, as her character relocates to America in her final scenes while her co-star Shayne Ward leaves the show for good.
Eva’s dramatic final episode will see her give birth on a bathroom floor before handing over her baby girl to Toyah Battersby to register her as her own.
A TV insider said: “Producers wanted to give Catherine the option to return in future once she’s had the chance to pursue other acting jobs.
“She was keen to do some serious dramas but working for the soap has always been a dream job for her.
“The decision to leave wasn’t easy so knowing Eva might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again definitely suits Catherine.
“Bosses are sure that she will be back one day when her son is slightly older and she’s taken the opportunity to work elsewhere.”
The Sun revealed in December that the actress had decided to quit the show – with Catherine confirming that it was a "difficult decision" to leave.
She said: "Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years and who knows one day she might be back in Weatherfield again.
"In the meantime I'm excited about the future, new acting projects and spending more time with my family."
