EastEnders spoilers: Roger Griffiths joins soap as Keegan Baker’s estranged father Mitch

Mitch will arrive in Walford when his van breaks down but not everything is as it seems with Keegan's estranged father

ROGER Griffiths has joined EastEnders as Keegan Baker's dad.

The former Doctors star will appear as Mitch Baker from next month, and his blast from the past arrival is set to cause chaos for Keegan - who is played by Zack Morris - and the Taylor family.

Roger said: "The Taylors are an established tight-knit family on the square, so coming in as Mitch - the wild card, meant I had to hit the ground running.

"I had a brilliant time and the actors who make up the Taylor family made me feel at home instantly. It was love at first sight."

EastEnders fans will first see Mitch on screen on March 12 when he turns up at The Arches after his van breaks down.

Mitch will be revealed as Keegan's father and Karen Taylor's (Lorraine Stanley) ex in his first episode, but it may not be a coincidence he has happened to turn up in Albert Square.

His arrival looks set to spell big trouble for the Taylors, who have been a breath of fresh air for the BBC One soap since joining last year.

It's not the first time Roger has appeared in Walford though.

He previously played Detective Inspector Christopher Riddick from 2004 to 2005 and appeared as the policeman when Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) was arrested for the murder of her husband "Dirty" Den Watts (Leslie Grantham).

Roger is no stranger to soaps having appeared as three different characters in a hat-trick of Doctors episodes from 2006 to 2016.

He has also played three alter-egos in Casualty from 1991 to 2017 - the latest being Marty Williams in three episodes last year - and three characters in fellow medical drama Holby City from 2003 to 2016, as well as three characters in 'The Bill' from 1992 to 2000.

As well as previously playing a policeman in EastEnders, Roger took on a similar role on the big screen in 2005 motion picture Batman Begins.
