Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt could be sent to prison after glassing Nathan Curtis lookalike in the lapdancing club
The teenager suffered a horror flashback and lashed out, thinking the man who had groomed and abused her had returned
BETHANY Platt will be left horrified after she is arrested for glassing a Nathan Curtis lookalike in the lap dancing bar - and could face prison for GBH.
The teenager - who is played by actress Lucy Fallon in the ITV soap - will lash out when a man who bears a passing resemblance to her abuser Nathan, is part of a rowdy stag party at the strip club.
But when Bethany suffers a horrifying flashback to the abuse she suffered at Nathan’s hands, she reacts by picking up a bottle and smashing it into the man’s face.
And when she is arrested over the horror assault, she’s left sobbing when the police tells her in no uncertain terms that she could face prison.
“You shoved a glass bottle in his face, apparently without provocation,” the police officer tells Bethany.
“He’s got potentially life-changing injuries.”
Crying, Bethany tried to explain her behaviour, telling her mum Sarah and the officer what happened.
She said: “I thought it was Nathan. He looked at me and I could have sworn it was him.”
But the police made it clear that was no excuse for what she had done.
He told Bethany: “I’m very sorry for what you’ve been through but it’s very likely you’re going to be charged with GBH.”
He added: “A background of abuse does not give someone licence to abuse others. This was a very serious assault.”
“In this period, she will really struggle as she is reliving everything. The fear of seeing Nathan and also having to go to court is really hard for her to deal with and she won’t really cope.”
