Jeff Brazier reveals his kids would ‘literally tear him apart’ as they coped with their grief after Jade Goody’s death

JEFF Brazier has revealed his sons would “literally tear him apart” following the tragic death of their mum Jade Goody.

Big Brother star Jade died from cervical cancer aged 27 in 2009, leaving behind sons Bobby and Freddie.

The boys, now 14 and 13 respectively, have since been raised by their dad Jeff – who had split from Jade prior to her death.

And as the boys gear up to mark the ninth anniversary of their mum’s death, Jeff has opened up about his struggle not to take things they said to him personally during the grieving period.

Speaking to , he said: “The big challenge for me was not taking it personally – I didn’t realise when she died that it would get so personal and they would literally tear me apart at times.

“Not meaning to necessarily hurt me but in a way of showing me that that’s how they feel.”

He added:  “I had to get my head around it all along the way that that would be coming at my direction – that’s the uglier side of parenting bereaved children.”

Jeff is currently gearing up to tie the knot with Kate Dywer and fortunately she has a great relationship with both of the boys.

Speaking  about them getting a step-mum, he said: “In one respect its just a title, it’s not going to stop her from being the way she is with the boys, but also I think crucially for Kate that sense of responsibility seems to get the best out of her.

“I love seeing the way she is with my children. It brings me immense amounts of pleasure – I feel like I’ve done well for them.”

The star continued: “It’s not just about putting the right person in my life for the long term, it’s putting the right female influence in theirs too and it feels really good on both levels.”
