LIAM Payne has sought legal advice about the end of his relationship with Cheryl, The Sun can reveal.
The ex-One Direction star, whose fortune is estimated at £54million, has discussed what splitting up would mean for their shared assets.
Liam Payne and Rita Ora look as though they are going to kiss while performing Fifty Shades Freed track For You on Jimmy Fallon Liam and Cheryl, said to be worth £20million, are not married but share a £5.1million mansion in Surrey.
They would also have to consider arrangements for their 11-month-old son Bear.
A source close to the couple said: “Liam has sought some legal advice but he still wants to make it work.
“It’s just sensible to be prepared for all options.
"With a young son and a number of assets between them there is more to breaking up than just parting ways.
“He hopes it doesn’t come to it but he’s just being careful.”
The Sun on Sunday revealed that pals fear Liam, 24, and Cheryl, 34, are ready to split despite holding crisis talks.
As the story emerged, Liam was more than 200 miles away from their Woking home, watching the boxing between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr in Manchester.
He sat next to Olympic champion Denise Lewis, 45, posing for a picture with her backstage at the Arena.
An onlooker said: “He looked pretty glum.
"His mind understandably looked elsewhere.”
Liam’s constant travelling, due to his successful solo career, is said to have placed an intolerable strain on the couple’s two-year relationship.
Friends say they have had no major rows and neither has had an affair.
But they fear that, despite them spending Valentine’s Day together last week, they may not be able to salvage their relationship in the long-term.
Sources claimed they might already have split if it was not for their son.
