Jennifer Aniston to ‘lovingly’ divorce husband Justin Theroux after two-year marriage
JENNIFER Aniston has announced her split from husband Justin Theroux.
The couple, who married in 2015, released a statement to Associated Press which said they had “mutually and lovingly made the decision at the end of last year”.
The statement, released by Jennifer's publicist, reads: “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation.
"This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year.
"We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.
"Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.
"Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative.
"Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”
There are currently no additional details as to why they have decided to split.
Justin and Jennifer have been together since 2011, and got engaged in 2012.
The pair had met through mutual friends and had worked on a series of films together, including 2008's Tropic Thunder and Wanderlust in 2011.
Friends star Jennifer started dating Brad Pitt in 1998 and they were married from 2000 until 2005, when he started dating his now ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
Aniston also dated actor Vince Vaughn from 2005 to December 2006 and was in a relationship with musician John Mayer from 2008 to 2009.
Justin was previously in a 14-year relationship with hairstylist Heidi Bevins until 2011.
Jennifer and Justin kept their marriage private and rarely spoke of their relationship - with their wedding taking place in their £15million shared Los Angeles home.
At the time, the wedding itself was disguised as a party for family and friends to celebrate Justin's birthday in a bid to keep people discovering they were tying the knot.

They were last seen together in late December and early January, when they were snapped enjoying a holiday together in Mexico.
Jen briefly opened up about the moment Justin proposed in an interview last September with Harper's Bazaar - including her hilarious automatic reaction.
When asked about the moment Justin, 46, popped the question, Jennifer said: “I usually just buff my nails.
"I don’t have the patience to let my nails dry. When Justin proposed he put that freaking ring on my finger, and I was like, ‘Holy c**p, now I’m going to have to get manicures!’”
Justin also once revealed that he was meant to meet Jennifer years earlier - but slept through an audition for her TV show, Friends.
Meanwhile, Twitter exploded with memes as fans reacted to the news of the split with many speculating Jen could reunite with Brad.
