Gino D’Acampo finally settles ‘pineapple on pizza’ debate with fiery rant on This Morning

GINO D'Acampo was furious when a young girl declared her favourite pizza topping was ham and pineapple on today's This Morning.

The Italian chef, 41, was holding a pizza-making masterclass with three eager to learn children when Poppy's choice of topping stopped him in his tracks.

Unaware of the drama to come, Poppy innocently said: "My one's ham and pineapple."

Shocked, Gino responded: "Pineapple? Pineapple, a fruit, on a pizza?"

Ever the calming presence, Ruth Langsford sided with Poppy and asked: "What's wrong with that?"

Gino was adamant that the fruit had no place on any from of pizza, hitting back: "Pineapple should never be on a pizza. It's like putting an apple on a pizza."

The debate has long split pizza lovers, with pineapple seemingly the Marmite of the topping world.

Many viewers agreed with Gino and wanted his ruling to be final on the matter.

They wrote on Twitter: "watching this morning and Gino just said that pineapple on pizza is not allowed so I would appreciate it if we could all stop arguing and take his word for it x.

"Gino said pineapple doesn’t belong on pizzas. He’s a chef and he’s Italian soooo that’s final 😊 #ThisMorning.

"Yes Gino, pineapple should never go on a pizza 🍕 @thismorning @Ginofantastico.

"Gino the King himself just confirmed...PINEAPPLE DOESN'T GO ON PIZZA #ThisMorning."

However, not everyone agreed, with some pointing out that tomato, another fruit, is a staple of nearly every pizza.

Those who disagreed said: "@thismorning I love pineapple on a pizza, but I think gino is forgetting something....tomato is a fruit!! So fruit belongs on a pizza 🍕.

"@thismorning Gino don’t moan about pineapple on a pizza, what is a tomato? Answer a fruit!!! Can tell your from Sheffield."
