Survival of the Fittest a ‘cigarette free zone’ after Love Island smoking backlash
The new ITV2 reality show is all about fitness and so a sneaky cigarette is not acceptable
SURVIVAL of the Fittest is a "cigarette free zone" after Love Island's smoking backlash.
The new ITV2 reality show started last night and is produced by the same people behind Love Island.
But the Daily Star reports that Series Producer Mike Spencer said "barely any" of the contestants smoke, as they're all fitness fanatics.
This in stark contrast to Love Island, which gave contestants a 200 cigarettes a day allowance in the Spanish villa.
Ousted contestant Craig Lawson previously told The Sun: "The show normally provides 20 fags a day per person – so five people equates to 100 cigarettes.
“Fags are on mass supply. But if you get through your daily allowance then you won’t be given anymore – no one should be smoking more than 20 a day; that’s a lot of fags.
“Some people smoke quite excessively in the villa. I’m a non-smoker but I would still get a supply.
“You get so bored when you’re in there – that’s why you see so many people smoking. There’s only so much you can talk about your life.”
This outraged many viewers and Ofcom received more complaints about the islanders smoking than it did about them having sex on TV.
Meanwhile last night's debut episode saw plenty of drama, as Danny Dyer's daughter Dani was forced to withdraw from the competition after dislocating her shoulder during the first challenge.
Speaking in a new clip about the incident, Dani admitted she was “gutted” but would just have been a “spare part” if she stayed.
Wearing her arm in a sling, she said: “So for medical reasons I can’t take part in the challenges, I would be no use in a sling.

“I would just be sitting around not being able to compete and I am not allowed to move this for a week so it wouldn’t be fair and there’s just no point. I would just be an extra spare part.”
Discussing her time on the show, she continued: “My experience, the lead up going into the lodge was amazing.”
The aspiring actress went on to reveal she would be rooting for the girls to win from her sofa.
“I can’t put into words how amazing it was so I am gutted I can’t do any challenges but I am rooting for the girls, all the way, we have to win. Especially now we have win, they have to do it for me,” she said.
“I am going to sit back and rest and watch every single night and hope they win every challenge.”
